Born in New Orleans into a family with a strong Catholic Faith, Cheryl has a background that began in the French Quarter's La Petite Theatre as a child actress, winning city wide competitions in Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation and plays she both acted in and directed. Young Life a non-denominational Christian Youth Outreach ministry took her to Boulder Colorado's Frontier Camp at 14 where she began a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ that included on-going bible study in the word of God, supplementing her Catholic upbringing.
Cheryl was Voted The Most Industrious Senior Class Woman in High School because she was either an officer or a member of nearly every club – Honor Society, Girls Athletics, Yearbook staff, Drama Club. She was the first female "Mistress of Ceremonies for O. Perry Walker's Class Night", In 1979 Cheryl graduated from the University of Southwest Louisiana in Lafayette, Magna Cum Laude with degrees in Speech Pathology and Audiology, a Psychology Minor, and diagnosis of reading disorders specialty. During College, her roles as pledge trainer, spirit chairman and initiation chairman for Chi Omega honed her organization and people skills. She also participated in New Orleans vibrant community theatre. contemporary dance and ballet while attending LSU Medical school's graduate program earning a Masters in Communication Disorders. After graduation she began a private practice in speech language pathology, marketing services to hospitals, nursing homes and home health care entities.
Working for the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent DePaul's Hotel Dieu Hospital was a tremendous blessing and period of spiritual growth. After marrying, she moved to Birmingham Alabama in 1987 to serve as staff development director for a national concern. She served individually as a professional consultant to NME and PIA's program development. Cheryl's medical background specialized serving traumatic brain injury and stroke patients while building Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospitals's Speech and Hearing Department as its Director. Cheryl worked in her medical profession full time after first son, part-time after second child and became a full-time stay at home mom after her third child was born , which allowed time to attend and lead women's bible studies and serve the community (Meals on Wheels, Regnum Christi, and Gods Helpers of His Precious Infants) as well as become politically active in the legislative process and the pro-life movement.
Founder of Showers of Blessing Birmingham ministry connecting womens groups to support girls turned around from abortion with material goods thru baby showers.
Moved to Montgomery with Fob James administration and became involved with Alabama Citizens For Life serving as Legislative Director and alternate to the National Right to Life Committee Board in Washington D.C.
Alabama Citizens for Life frequently needed a public relations and media spokesperson and Cheryl willingly stepped in front of the radio microphone or TV camera to be a voice for the voiceless on APTV- for the Record and The Hank Irwin Show, she has given her testimony at the March for Life publicly and is available for public speaking engagements.
Currently as single mother of 5 terrific children, with three in college and the youngest in school full-time she now serves as the Board Director Representing Alabama on the National Right to Life Committee and expanded her pro-life affiliation with the United for Life Foundation and the development of Focus on Life radio.
